I’ve posted about the “one day production system.” One of the factors that contributes to the system is the “Quick service.
In Korea, we have a very convenient delivery service called “Quick Service.” When you need to send something urgently, you call up a number and the “Quick Service Man” comes on a motor cycle and picks the item up and delivers it to the destination.
It is called the “Quick Service” for a reason. It’s much faster than regular or express parcel service. You can literally get items delivered within a couple of hours in Seoul. Considering that express parcel service takes on average 1, 2 days, the “Quick Service” is definitely a catch.
This “Quick Service” is one of the major contributing factors of the Dongdaemun’s unique “one day production system.” Since Koreans are quick tempered and as some put it that Koreans always say “pali pali” (hurry, hurry), it was probably most natural for us to have come up with this type of business.
You can spot some jaw-dropping scenes like this in Dongdaemun. “Quick Service Man” on the job rides in extreme speed.
These “Quick Service Men” deliver fabric, subsidiary materials in the morning and end products in the afternoon and evening. They are like the vessels of the big Dongdaemun organism.
What you have to do is just call, give basic information: your address, destination and type of item and “Quick service man” will come to pick up the item and collect the fee. The fee may vary depending on distance and weather. The fees range from KRW 5,000 ~ KRW 20,000 in Seoul.
So for those of you visiting Korea and you want to do a whole lot of shopping in Dongdaemun, make note of the next post on “Time quick service.” Using “Time quick”, you won’t have to carry all the baggage back to the hotel or the airport.
Simply call up a "quick service man" and let him do the job for you.
